3 Reflexes To Take Care of Your Eyes

This week, Essilor, the parent company of Vision Direct, is organizing #WorldSightWeek. This is our opportunity to encourage you to put your eyesight first and take care of your eyes more than ever.

Especially in early fall, it's easy to get caught up in work, activities, and all the frenzy of the routine. However, there are a few simple steps you can take to take care of your eyes and ensure their good health! Here are the three things to put on your October to-do list.

Make an appointment with your ophthalmologist

If you wear contact lenses, it is strongly recommended that you see your special eye doctor once every two years. Eyesight changes and fatigue combined with aging has a considerable impact on the latter. However, having a correction that is not adapted to your sight can have undesirable consequences in the long term.

Beyond a simple check of your eyesight, a regular visit to your ophthalmologist also allows for a health check. For your very eyes, regular exams can help detect many problems such as glaucoma. But some diseases such as diabetes can also be seen ... through your eyes!

Rest your eyes

Screens, wind, air conditioning/heating work: your eyes are not spared. To rest them, a few simple actions can help you out effectively.

Don't have lunch in front of your working screen

Forcing yourself to take small "screen breaks" during the day: make yourself a, make a phone call, walk outside ... but without your phone!

Reduce the time spent on your smartphone or television when you get home. Prefer a well-deserved relaxation break with a fresh eye mask, it often works wonders!

You can also bring eye drops to relieve dryness throughout the day.

Respect the wearing time of lenses

Busiest schedules and extended work schedules extend the time you wear lenses. Not to mention that a good number of carriers sometimes fall asleep without having removed them! Beyond the danger of spending the night with unsuitable lenses, the simple discomfort caused by wearing can seriously tire your eyes.

If your days tend to get out of hand, you can opt for disposable daily lenses. They guarantee optimal comfort all day long, while monthly lenses can create a slight discomfort after several weeks of wearing.

For a compromise, you can opt for bi-weekly lenses that change every two weeks through Seattle vision care center! If you're planning on going out after work, don't forget to slip a bottle of eye drops into your bag or a spare pair of daily lenses and you're good to go.
